A day to day acount of the whacky and wonderful world of Muggaz - i tend to be having too much fun these days, and often cannot remember moments due to debauchery - its time the internet repayed my loyalty by recording my antics.
How Righteous of me...
Published on December 2, 2004 By Muggaz In Just Hanging Out
I like to think of myself as a selfless person, what is good for those around me, is essentially good for me, so, whilst I am no philanthropist, I am sure I have the concerns of others in my heart - sure, it’s probably related to a deep seeded desire to not associate with people who are grumpy and un-pleasant towards me, but that isn’t exactly unhealthy.

Exactly what brought this train of thought upon me; I don’t know, but it’s the famous, what you would do if you had one wish. I am not greedy, so I think three wishes are pretty stupid, I am a subscriber to the old ‘one wish is enough’ school of thought. Un-told riches, world peace, instant fame – they are all appealing, but I have one consummate desire that I would use my wish for.

I don’t have very much faith in humanity – that’s no secret to those who know me – I honestly believe as a whole, we deserve an asteroid. I am not a sadist though; I just rack my brain, the brain I love and hate at the same time, with constant thoughts of improvement on a grand scale. Our brains are our greatest gifts from birth, and when I see practices that don’t allow for mental evolution, nothing makes me sadder.

Where exactly am I going with this? And would this particular wish be pointless? My one wish would be to eradicate all organised religion. Sure, this is only a concept of mine that is 18 hours old, and I haven’t exactly thought the consequences through completely, however, based on the brief history of time thus far, I have come to the logical conclusion that the world would be a better place without organised religion.

The gang mentality isn’t productive at the best of times, and whilst that could be considered blasphemous and disrespectful to religions older than modern society itself – religion, more so fundamental religion, is nothing more than a big gang in which the thugs are told how and what to think by those that hold power. Humans are all the same, it does not matter where or when we were born, so using denominations to classify ourselves is preposterous.

Anyone with half a brain will be aware of the catastrophes caused by organised religion – Islam. Christianity, Judaism, all as bad as each other. Who is to say human nature wouldn’t have found another excuse to slaughter millions of people in the name of a deity, or in the name of different religious practices? Well, when I find my consequence planning genie that will grant me this wish, I will let you know.

As mentioned earlier in the piece, I sincerely believe that religion is a hindrance to the development of the brain, and by proxy, the intellect. So many people are willing to believe what they are told. Do I need to see something to believe it? No… Ignorance really is bliss though; this constant quest for answers is both a blessing and a curse… They say Jim Morrison of the Doors fame took his own life because he knew too much… perhaps that’s nothing but crazy stoner hippy talk, but the other side is something that fascinates me to no end.

Maybe if people weren’t so self assured that they are going to the Promised Land, no matter what religion you are, they would live their current lives as better people. We see it every day with the suicide bombers, also Christians who know they can ask their god for forgiveness no matter their indiscretions.

It is my sincere belief that the world would be a better place without organised religion, and isn’t that what we should all want? I could wish for un-told riches and become somewhat of a God myself… but that would cause nothing but trouble right?

Aren't you sick or at least get tired of speaking of things always politically?- because wars struck politically, religions misleaded politically. Instead of wishing to 'eradicate all organised religions', why not wish for peace itself. In fact, only one wish that matters since three wishes or more are pretty stupid for you. No organised religion on earth doesn't promise peace because there are still 'un'organised religions and that, including a lot of other things in the world which are potential to struck unhappiness; are not included in your wish. Don't complicate things with twists and grand words. Less words with grand meanings are more blessful than dozens of articles from an unorganized mind.

Thats the most insightful thing a random has ever said to me. My mind is not organised, but thats a thought that came across my mind. My blog is my journal to look back and see the man I am becoming - I know I am not right all the time, if at all, but thoughts are precious - I thank you for reading in to them - I am not trying to influence you... this hasn't anything to do with politics... I am a firm believer that church and state should be seperated...

World peace is important, but I really think organised religion is a hinderance to the intellect... thats just my humble opinion...

you speak of the masses following those in power... there's no denying that you are correct in that assessment.  But you want to do away with organized religion, and what?  allow us all to think for ourselves?  There's only one problem sir...

what about the people who don't share your intellect?  there are sheep and there are shepherds... you my friend are a shepherd, but you can't assume that everyone else can be a shepherd too.

the system exists, and the system works.  it's not perfect by any means, but it's the best we can do right now.  doing away with organised religion is not the answer my friend...

I soooooooooooooo disagree with you... It is not organised religion that is the problem... it is the STUPID people that misinterpret them.
My wish is for God to give them the brains required to see the truth and act the way Muslims, Jews and Christians are supposed to... this would lead to a world at peace.

Thats exactly it though MJ - Religion has been used to control the masses for as long as time now, and I don't think it is acceptable... however, I can deal with it until i find my genie... What would you wish for?

it is the STUPID people that misinterpret them.

Mano, I hate to say, the hierachies and those in power are mis-interpreting religion, no matter which one, every day...

The problem with doing away with organized religion....it would only be temporary. It is proven throughout history, that humanity is a spiritual species. Allowing us all to think for ourselves after doing away with religion will still lead to people seeking God or some god. These people will then want to fellowship with like minded believers and the whole cycle begins again. In order to ever truly do away with religion, one would have to inherently and genetically change homeo sapiens.

Like it or not, religion and the organization thereof is mart of our makeup.

I agree, you are a shepard.

I wouldn't want people following you though.

haha... yeah, maybe i should just wish for a bunch of money and have my way with the world.

Cheering up. That's more like it, old boy. Although I also find that mankind could certainly use a good asteroid spanking.
on Dec 03, 2004
BTW a medieval tournament just might be the cure. If total obliteration of religion is not feasible, by Jove why not singularly consolidate mankind under one thumb of repression -- have each great religion offer its respective champion in a winner take all tournament of jousting. Righteous violence in grace's scared name is better than good opium, Old Boy.

I love a humble opinion because opinions should be nothing but humble. : )

"I know I am not right all the time, if at all, but thoughts are precious"

- That's what i'm standing for myself, Muggaz. Thoughts are precious and here we are to speak up thoughts; however we will always try to correct what we think's wrong and agreeing to what we think's right.

Forgive me.
