A day to day acount of the whacky and wonderful world of Muggaz - i tend to be having too much fun these days, and often cannot remember moments due to debauchery - its time the internet repayed my loyalty by recording my antics.
How Righteous of me...
Published on December 2, 2004 By Muggaz In Just Hanging Out
I like to think of myself as a selfless person, what is good for those around me, is essentially good for me, so, whilst I am no philanthropist, I am sure I have the concerns of others in my heart - sure, it’s probably related to a deep seeded desire to not associate with people who are grumpy and un-pleasant towards me, but that isn’t exactly unhealthy.

Exactly what brought this train of thought upon me; I don’t know, but it’s the famous, what you would do if you had one wish. I am not greedy, so I think three wishes are pretty stupid, I am a subscriber to the old ‘one wish is enough’ school of thought. Un-told riches, world peace, instant fame – they are all appealing, but I have one consummate desire that I would use my wish for.

I don’t have very much faith in humanity – that’s no secret to those who know me – I honestly believe as a whole, we deserve an asteroid. I am not a sadist though; I just rack my brain, the brain I love and hate at the same time, with constant thoughts of improvement on a grand scale. Our brains are our greatest gifts from birth, and when I see practices that don’t allow for mental evolution, nothing makes me sadder.

Where exactly am I going with this? And would this particular wish be pointless? My one wish would be to eradicate all organised religion. Sure, this is only a concept of mine that is 18 hours old, and I haven’t exactly thought the consequences through completely, however, based on the brief history of time thus far, I have come to the logical conclusion that the world would be a better place without organised religion.

The gang mentality isn’t productive at the best of times, and whilst that could be considered blasphemous and disrespectful to religions older than modern society itself – religion, more so fundamental religion, is nothing more than a big gang in which the thugs are told how and what to think by those that hold power. Humans are all the same, it does not matter where or when we were born, so using denominations to classify ourselves is preposterous.

Anyone with half a brain will be aware of the catastrophes caused by organised religion – Islam. Christianity, Judaism, all as bad as each other. Who is to say human nature wouldn’t have found another excuse to slaughter millions of people in the name of a deity, or in the name of different religious practices? Well, when I find my consequence planning genie that will grant me this wish, I will let you know.

As mentioned earlier in the piece, I sincerely believe that religion is a hindrance to the development of the brain, and by proxy, the intellect. So many people are willing to believe what they are told. Do I need to see something to believe it? No… Ignorance really is bliss though; this constant quest for answers is both a blessing and a curse… They say Jim Morrison of the Doors fame took his own life because he knew too much… perhaps that’s nothing but crazy stoner hippy talk, but the other side is something that fascinates me to no end.

Maybe if people weren’t so self assured that they are going to the Promised Land, no matter what religion you are, they would live their current lives as better people. We see it every day with the suicide bombers, also Christians who know they can ask their god for forgiveness no matter their indiscretions.

It is my sincere belief that the world would be a better place without organised religion, and isn’t that what we should all want? I could wish for un-told riches and become somewhat of a God myself… but that would cause nothing but trouble right?
