I personally don't know too much about Blogging. JU is my first experience, but i may be out of line, so seasoned veterans, i would really appreciate your input here, and i am sure its not just me as well.
I am just wondering what consensus is for commenting on other authors blogs. As JU grows and grows, and the users dont become as familiar as perhaps some people around here, i can sometimes be a little afraid to comment on other peoples blogs.
Its pretty safe to say, that i wont comment on someone elses Blog unless they have commented on mine, this is my personal viewpoint, and i am wondering if it is an un-written law? Sometimes i am inspired to make a passing comment, but in all honesty, i wont even read new material by a new user unless the title is catchy.
As soon as a new user comments on any of my blogs, i will make an effort to check out their articles, and see where this person is coming from.
At the end of the day, this is about exposure, and i know that Brad & Co. are working in the points system so that forum type articles dont get rediculous amounts of points just because people are leaving comments, and i agree with this 100% This will ensure the best authors and people with interesting opinions remain in the top 10, rather than post whores who often say things just for the sake of 5 points.
However, My blog is no sacred place, and i welcome comments from everyone... not for the points, i dont care for them because i have been labeled an elitist by some n00bs... i just want to let those guys know that they are joining a community, and for people to read/comment on your blog in a consistent fashion, it can be a lot of work to start of with to get the main players interested.
I immensely enjoy new users comming into the fold, but i am getting tired of them refering to the top 10 as elitists snobs who dont give new blogs the time of day - just realise, you scratch our back, and impress us with insiteful comments, and let us know you are reading us, i can ensure you that we will give your Blog the time of day it deserves.
Happy Blogging and BAM!!!
