A day to day acount of the whacky and wonderful world of Muggaz - i tend to be having too much fun these days, and often cannot remember moments due to debauchery - its time the internet repayed my loyalty by recording my antics.
When Intelligence is Stupidity
Published on September 21, 2004 By Muggaz In Misc
Oh the Irony of it all…

Isn’t it funny that mistakes by ‘Intelligence’ are amongst the most irresponsible and stupid actions of all time? Lack of ‘intelligence’ also makes for some of man-kinds worst tragedies, yet we are all to eager to blame down right stupidity on ‘intelligence’

Australia’s prime minister has weighed in on the Pre-emptive strike debate, stating that he would have no reservations in ordering a pre-emptive strike on a nation in the region if he felt Australia was under threat from terrorism. In one mans ‘intelligent’ opinion, this is quite possibly the stupidest idea I have ever heard. I trust my government, and I trust their capacity to work with regional neighbours when under threat, but to even mention pre-emptive strikes is absurd.

As an Australian, I am concerned for our wellbeing as a country, but as a human, my greatest interest’s lie in the stability of the region. A pre-emptive strike aimed at terrorists, not sanctioned by the target nation, can only infuriate said nation and contribute to the inferiority complex Australia as a nation insists on developing for the poorer nations in the region – we would only find missiles pointed squarely south, and they would most definitely hit us before big brother US could intervene.

The crux of the matter here is that ‘Intelligence’ is never 100% reliable, as 9/11 and the current debacle in Iraq have proven, Intelligence must go hand in hand with a little word called certainty. Once the damage has been done, you can’t blame intelligence, you can only look at stupidity. Brilliant intelligence on one end takes advantage of poor intelligence on the other – The beach landings of Normandy and the attack on Pearl Harbour are both gleaming examples.

Intelligence is a brilliant tool of modern day warfare, yet it is useless unless used with integrity and certainty – We must learn not to act on supposition, and blaming ‘Intelligence’ for a lack of said quality is about as useful as a cock flavoured lollypop. Diplomacy and working together is the best form of Intelligence I could ever fathom.

It would never be enacted without first going to public census, Muggaz.

Having said that though, I do believe public opinion would sway towards it being approved, should there be an attack on Australian soil.

Little Johnny's just getting the thought process out there for us general's du publique to mull over for a while.

It's inevitable that as a nation, we will have to protect ourselves from unseen/unknown threats, whether it be the immediate or long term future. I'm not saying we should jump into a war at the drop of a hat, but we should have a very high degree of protection for our country, and the inteliigece to know when it should be used.

......Preferrably after diplomacy has failed.

How can we say we want a peaceful world when as a country we are arming ourselves to the teeth?
How can we expect other countries and groups to lay down their arms when we are bending to pick up more?
We have travelled the same defensive, pre emptive, attack without questioning motive road for too long.
I think if we are going to make any headground in the battle for peace we must lead by example.
Lay down our arms....or at least for a start ,stop hoarding weapons.....and start talking more.
Wars do not solve any problems they just prepare people for the next one...and we really don't have room for any more wars....
with the advances in military technology we would detroy everything and everyone would lose.
So, if only we could use our 'Intelligence' for what it is and start using our heads rather than our hands on the trigger.
