Here is little old me, suggesting that invading Iraq would only fan the flames of terrorism, yet I am only a young buck with no idea about national security or international relations – well, I have news for you – I should apply for a job with apparently ‘switched on’ Australian Intelligentsia!
As reported in
this article
, senior intelligence analysts repeatedly told Mr Howard, and I don’t doubt many US counterparts were informing George W. that an attack on Iraq would only increase the risk or terrorism by fanning Islamic extremism.
I don’t want to believe that the leaders of our great nations are absolute morons, but based on information coming to hand now; it’s hard for me to have any other opinion. Why do people like John Howard bother keeping intelligence analysts on the payroll, when it is quite obvious to all concerned that their warnings aren’t heeded anyway?
John Howard told the Australian public on the eve of the conflict that the war would lesson the terrorist threat – I guess he feels ok to take the Aussie general public for imbeciles. Make no mistake, this underestimation of the publics intelligence will only hurt John Howard when it comes to the elections, and I imagine the same holds true for George W. Bush.
I have said it many times, that Terrorism is like a Hydra, and you cut one head of and two more spring in its place. The only link between Al Qaeda and Saddam Hussein was a common enemy – intelligence agencies reported that there was no link between the two as far as terrorism and planning goes. To attack terrorism, we must go for the heads – Saddam Hussein wasn’t even close to the torso… pancreas at best.
Alas, our respective governments can be forgiven for not listening to the Intelligence agencies, after the shambles of intelligence information that was 9/11 and the Bali Bombing’s, no one can trust anyone now…
John Howard and George Bush do need to trust their respective public populations though, we deserve the truth, and admitting mistakes from time to time is not political suicide - blatent lies are. I don’t particularly enjoy remarking ‘I told you so’ when it comes to matters of National Security, because people are being paid to do their jobs, and I have no place commenting, If only politicians learnt that honesty goes a long way when it comes to the general populace – National Security is a matter where mistakes need to be made public, learnt from, and reacted to accordingly.
Only the next generation of Islamic fundamentalists can prove us right or wrong…

though it gets me trolled......tttthhhhppppppppppptttttt!!!!!!
this rasberry has been brought to you by a member of the intelligence community, thank you and goodnight.
P.S. Don't blame us, blame the people at the top of the food chain who start with the results they want and try to force the intelligence data to fit them, or try to produce unrealistic goals, by not knowing how to use the intelligence assets they have.
Furthermore, it is rarely possible for the public to see the success stories that balance "intelligence" failures, because they are naturally classified. It's easy to blame those who are not allowed to fight back, or say much of anything about their work, much less defend it.

Oh I wont Troll you mate... I dont troll anyone!!! besides, I agree with you... Like i said in the article, why do our respective leaders bother with listening to intelligence breifs if they aren't acknowledged?
Straight up truth is all thats required when Intelligence is de-classified, and in this case, it's a shame, because even me, a little old nobody could have told our great Prime Minister, and your benevolent President, that an attack on Iraq will not do the war on terror any favours...

Anything regarding war or terrorism is useless to discuss, unfortunately paying taxes does not give us access to classified information, which would obviously shed a lot more light on the reasoning of our fearless leaders.

You would think that by electing these leaders, that would give us standing enough to understand their reasoning - i.e. we can relate to their policies and agree with them, so we elect them, and we would hope their reasoning is in line with ours!!!
God Damn corruption and hidden agendas will be the death of me!!!
