A day to day acount of the whacky and wonderful world of Muggaz - i tend to be having too much fun these days, and often cannot remember moments due to debauchery - its time the internet repayed my loyalty by recording my antics.

As much as I like to convey the notion ‘cool by not being cool’ I rally have to say, I love cheesy house and retro music.

Weekend is over, and as per usual, I have patronised several Melbourne establishments. I have been bickering internally over my love for cheesy house music… I have always been able to dance to it, and I have always been able to admire other females dancing to it… only after this weekend have I realised this internal bickering is useless… I have succumbed to the dance floor power that is cheese.

My musical and entertainment taste’s can be described as broad at the least. I do have frequent night spots in like to attend though, none of which play excessive retro or house music. I didn’t suffer infernal hatred for it, because it never annoyed me, but by the same token, I won’t go out and purchase a CD or old school mega-mix… cheesy music is fun, but it isn’t that fun…

The venues I usually frequent offer cover bands, with all kinds of music played live… and in between band breaks, they play ghetto music for some healthy hip hop dancing!!! On the other end of the spectrum, we have the underground clubs of Melbourne, where their ‘aint nothing gracing my ears other than pounding, pounding techno music – hardly something you can strut and sing a long too…

Of course, every now and then, I will go to a club that plays solid 80’s and house music… alas, it isn’t my normal kind of environment, and the fans of said music aren’t really my kind of people, so I can be forgiven for feeling a little out of place at House or Retro venues, but as my repertoire expands, I cannot find the feeling anymore… Me and Cheese – we are good friends.

I will be sitting at the bar, having a chat with who-ever… and Tainted Love will grace the sound system… Take on Me by A-HA is also a favourite, and pretty much anything by Bon Jovi. The esteemed club goers amongst us do not need to second guess where my new found love for cheese comes from… It stems for the dance-floor, and the quantity of fine young ladies populating it whenever the old classics are heard…

With house music, it isn’t quite as cool… your typical house crowd is your superficial kind… i.e. look good at all costs. It goes back to what I was saying earlier – House music isn’t cool, because it is conceived as ‘cool’ there is a picture painted already, and I do have to say, I don’t look so ‘cool’ on the dance floor of a house club with all these buffed up Mario’s with their hairy chests showing through their half buttoned shirts, and their glamour queen girlfriends dancing in their stilettos pushing their hands in the air! I tell you what though, if you go with the right mindset and good friends, you can have an absolute blast!

Keeping the faith with My Sharona can be awesome fun!!! I think my theory that I actually like this music may be a little flawed though, and to be 100% honest, I do hope that is the case. I don’t know whether it is coincidence, or a matter of pure chance, but every time I seem to visit these establishments, I seem to be quite inebriated! Something is telling me to stay away from record shops and radio stations for the time being…

I have to say, I don’t want to ruin the illusion that cheese is cool, because, I do have a lot of fun when on the cheese, and if I have to live a lie… so be it… whether house and retro is actually any good as far as music is concerned… well, let’s just keep that to ourselves shall we?

BAM!!!

Muggaz, you had me at the word "cheesy." Irony is your friend when ti comes to retro and house music My favorite type of musical cheese are the Top 40 remixes, ie. Felix da Housecat's remix of "Toxic." For me, it's puts a different spin (literally) on the predictable Top 40 songs. Plus, it's just fun.

Your country releases some great singles. I would just love to live in Australia and buy from the record stores there. Perhaps browse the bargain bins and find a single that can't be found in the United States.

In my experience, it isn't a night of clubbing until "Baby got Back" has been played. That goes for Karaoke as well... someone always gets up on that big stage and just belts it out. Strange but true.

I think I like Silver Screen and Rocket Ride better though.... but that might just be me.

I'm not sure. Although it was released on the Aussie version of the "Toxic" single. I don't really buy DJ's CD's that often, just the singles.

I dont purchase any mate.... Get a program called slsk - or soulseek... it's probably the best form of sharing electronic music... you can find soooooo many sets, if you are really into your electronic music, send me an email, and I will give you some real cool sites to leech from, without giving them too much unwanted attention

- What exactly isn't Agawrian here? The main philosophy of Agawria is "Do as you please, with consideration for others" Well, just quietly, I am doing as I please, and I am considerate of others! I dont plan on playing cheesy house music early on a Sunday morning and offending sober people!!!

Okay, stop right there. If I hear my music being referred to as 'old classics' I'm gonna be sick. Go easy on me, please.
