A day to day acount of the whacky and wonderful world of Muggaz - i tend to be having too much fun these days, and often cannot remember moments due to debauchery - its time the internet repayed my loyalty by recording my antics.
are you honest to yourself and your idols?

What price on a bit of female companionship I hear you ask? well... thats kind of depends on who you are... but there is no way my musical integrity is up for question!!!

Visiting one of Melbourne's quality establishments in the weekend just passed, playing a spot of pool with my mates whilst listening to a band get their jive on... Three attractive ladies assume the position at the table nearest to us... begin giggling, glancing... inviting conversation...

Who am I to deny them the simple pleasure of my time? I approach them with a smile, and introduce myself... at this point of the night I am glad I can hold cohesive conversation... they smile, Introduce themselves, and I make a crack at their names... it gets them laughing early on... friendly abuse is a great ice-breaker!!!

The conversation takes the usual avenues.. and eventually evolves into music... Music is an important part of my life, I love it, so it's inevitable that the topic get to music... talking about the crap they have on commercial radio is taboo in these kind of establishments as well (superficial go with the crowd type pub - i go there cause the ladies are HAWT) So, whenever a fine filly mentions how much they love Justin Timberlake, Jessica Simpson or Avril Lavigne, you kind of have to nod... It's as though you think to yourself...

"I dont really care for Justin Timberlake, his music is rather crap, but I kind of respect what he has done"

or

"Jessica Simpson is rather hot... She would probably do well to keep her mouth shut though"

or

"hahahaha... Avril Lavigne... hahahahaha...."

I dont know if i abuse these artist's, what this other individual is going to think of me... are they going to think I am a heartless fool how doesn't realise the trial's and tribulation's of dating Britney Spears and or Cameron Diaz? I dont think that will be the case... but I keep my hostile thoughts to myself at any rate... I like to maintain civility in front of the ladies....

Soon enough, we get to who I am interested in... Of course these girls have never heard of Tool, Deftones, Pearl Jam, Unwritten Law, Jeff Buckly, Frankie goes to Hollywood.... I dont really expect them to... the music I like isn't played in such a repetative fashion on the sell out commercial radio stations that you can recite the lyrics perfectly sub -consciously two weeks after you hear the song for the first time... Then I was really hit...

The day I meet a chick at an establishment like this who is a fan of Chris Leibing, Richie Hawtin, Adam Bayer, DJ Rush, Mario Picotto or Claude Young, well, I will rejoice to the heavans and do a little jig...

however...

I mentioned that I am a fan of Techno... electronic music, and dance music... the artists above, and these chicks literally start ridiculling me in a serious fashion so much that I took immediate offense! Techno is a form of art that takes you to another place... yeah, there is a stigma involving party drugs and dance music, but why cant people see past that? It really is quite an art form!!!

In fact... I dont even care if you cant see past that... it is your choice... but how dare you ridicule me because of my choice in music?

The silly scrubbers were from Frankston anyways... In fact, they indeed proved that they weren't worth my time anyway!!!

They have a saying in Australia... mates before dates....

Music is my best friend! I would never let it down!

BAM!!!

mugzie don't you think it's a tad hypocritical to privately ridicule these "HAWT"ties taste in music when they like justin timberlake and britney and then get all cut when girls who have enough sense to share your admirable tastes in music don't like one measley aspect of your diverse musical diet? or did i misunderstand what actually happened here?
on Jun 29, 2004
Yeah... I think you misunderstood darlz...

I didn't ridicule them personally... I was like, yeah, whatever... yet, they had a go at ME and started calling ME a wanker... in a serious tone, just because I like techno!!!

Crazy wenches...

I'm sorry Mugazz..and this is a pretty FUNNY situation. I don't know a thing about techno so I can't comment. I can understand your dislike of Avril Levigne. Jessica simpson, dont care. But why, oh why do you have ot hate on Justin Timberlake!!! He's awesome...and his lyics are pretty catchy. If you were a chick, then maybe, just maybe you would appreciate and understand how gorgeous and sexy and adorable he really is. "you don't have to say, what u did, i already knwo, i found out from him, now there is no chance, for you and me, to ever be..and don't it make you sad about it...."

I'm down with a number of artists you mentioned ie. Jeff Buckley - too bad I found out about him long after his death, the Deftones, etc.. I'm not half as in-tune with the techno scene as I used to be, but every now and then I need to check out some good trance or ambient on my computer. That Robert Miles gets some play in my apt. from time to time as well.

Interesting gender gaps in music though, and you'd think techno would be a good way to bridge it.

I'm not a big fan of techno. Or rather, I'm stuck back in the 80s and since its retro, it's still cool in some circles. But who gives a shit about cool? I'd be impressed if any of the chickies mentioned above could give a great reason detailing why Justin, Britney or Avril are so good, than just darned catchy. There is a difference. Can I do the same with my 80s songs? Some of them, but there is some trash in there too, and it suits me fine, nonetheless. Music is to be enjoyed, that I agree with.

Old School here. Zeppelin, AC/DC, Aerosmith, ZZ Top, Nugent, Alice Cooper, Pink Floyd...

please define scrubber
on Jun 29, 2004
This is urbandictioanry.com definition of scrubber

A female of lesser class and obliging to any male demands for free

jesus would you look at those scrubbers over there they'd shag anything

Music is just such a blessing on this world... everyone can enjoy whatever genre... I just think it is plain old wrong to hate on someone just because of their choice of music!!!

Ted... that being said.... Robert Miles is a no talent twat, and trance is for drug monkeys... but i dont think any less of you because of it

Mandy, dont you worry either... JT has my respect, but the amount his stuff is played on the radio takes any meaning away from it, because you know his management companies are paying the radio stations to play him, and he isn't on the airwaves because of his musical talent...

BAM!!!
on Jun 29, 2004
hehe, musical talent or not....he has my attention...(and all the other females that like him) I like his music...and I can see how it wouldn't appeal to you....but he's gorgeous, and adorable and sends shivers up my spine. lol Jk about the shivers....

So due to their taste in music they become scrubbers? And first of when you decided to speak with them they weren't scrubbers?

Seems a bit shallow to me!

Or are they scrubbers because they criticised your taste in music? You also criticised their music, just they had the guts to say it to you.
on Jun 30, 2004

Aussie slang makes me chuckle...

Aside from all that though I have always made it a point to be blunt about music with girls or else you will find yourself stuck in her car or bedroom while she cranks the worst musical swill ever brewed. Better to have simply not gotten laid than be subjected to the musical stylings of Mandy Moore (who should dump the music and hop into porn!)

So due to their taste in music they become scrubbers?

- no, they were scrubbers because they come from Frankston... look it up some time... you will understand... lighten up a little Bambino!!!! hehe... they shouldn't have been so nasty to the Mug Man!!!

I never criticised them personally... that was the line!!!

When I am alone with a lady.... they usually do the female thing and let me choose the music... its only right!!!

BAM!!!

Isn't it the gentlemanly thing to let the Lady decide?
