It seems as though this man can do no right!
Steve has made a documentary on Antarctic life... It has been claimed that he was cavorting with the Antartic wildlife in an innapropriate fashion.... Apparently he touched some penguins and whales - which brings a $1 million fine, and a 2 year jail sentance - Crikey!!!
Steve Irwin provides an invaluable service to the global community - he is trying to teach the world about paying respect to our environment - I hardly beleive that he should be made an example of by the authorities that claim to protect the environment -when Steve Irwin as an individual has done more than any organisations ever could... Crikey! - the man deserves a medal!!!

Right on! So what if he touched a penquin, who made touching animals a crime?? Environmentalists are a funny bunch. They make rules and decisions about species for reasons that are strictly anthropocentric. Isn't it time we got past that whole view?? Just because we're human doesn't mean we have the right to decide who touches what animals when. In times like this when our world is a little more than fucked up, putting someone in jail for touching a penguin or whale just seems rediculous and wasted tax payer money to keep him in jail.

actually im surprised that at least a few kids havent been seriously hurt attempting to emulate steve irwin or the other guys who make it appear so easy to pick up venomous snakes by their tails or "reaching into bushes or crevices" blindly to grab an escaping serpent. those videos are edited of course. there are--in the us anyway--a fair number of non-venomous snakes that mimic the poisonous species. you dont get a lotta chances to rectify a mistake

I think Steve Irwin is responsible for the lack of kiddies touching bad animals!!!
he makes a concerted effort at all times to emphasise the respect that animals deserve... If anything, i would say he has prevented a number of harmful bites and incidents because of his attitude and the way he presents himself when handling the dangerous animals...
What is touching a penguin really... i mean, it's not as though he was performing any acts of bestiality, and in the long run, it's helping the penguins by raising awareness of their environment and the perils it faces!!!

As long as there's no video of him slipping wine to a lingerie clad penguin leave the guy alone already! Sheesh.
