When people take advantage of other people it makes me sick.

Australia, as you are all aware, or if you aren’t you should be – is an immensely proud sporting nation, and I would be so bold to state that per capita, we are the best sporting nation. Obviously local sports are taken seriously and when something happens, it is plastered all over the local Media.

Sports stars here are treated like kings, I am not saying that is right or wrong, that’s just how it is.

A few weeks ago there were rape alligations made against some rugby league players from NSW, this has brewed up an absolute hurricane of controversy, and it is apparent it won’t stop any time soon. Now AFL players are being accused.

The outcome of the original case is yet to be disclosed, however, it has inspired hundreds of articles on the issue including this one and also other woman to ‘come forward’ and claim they were raped as well.

Don’t get me wrong, football players are more often than not the epitome of male chauvinistic pigs, however, they aren’t stupid, and surely realise that in their positions of public scrutiny they have a responsibility to stay in line. Every now and there will be an altercation with a footballer, but we haven’t seen any rapes yet, and quite frankly, I don’t believe it happened.

Females are just suckers for punishment I suppose. Footballers literally have women throw themselves at them… merely for the fact that they are in the public eye, and footballers are paid reasonably well, not to mention their athletic bodies and status amongst society. Footballers do not NEED to rape woman. I am sure their sexual desires are being fulfilled with minimal effort at all, as far as I know, people who rape woman do so because they aren’t getting any, these footballers are getting plenty – let me assure you.

These women are making accusations that they cannot possibly prove. As long as I see girls all glammed up and acting ridiculously flirtatious around footballers, I have no reason to believe the accusations. These poor footballers have just had a good night out, and yes, they may be boisterous and taking advantage of the girls attitude towards them – although any sexual intercourse that took place would have been consensual – that I am 98% sure of.

These girls just wake up the next morning, with rather sore heads. They realise what promiscuous sluts they have been, and that there is no chance of any relationship with the star athlete, so they cry foul. They are trying to get their 15 minutes of fame at the expense of a young mans whole life.

Whether the rape was committed or not, these young men’s reputations are tarnished forever, a rape alligation is something that stays with you your whole life, and it’s not something you want if you are in the public eye – to be known as the footballer with the rapist stigma. It wouldn’t be nice.

The same thing happened in England mid last year with premier league soccer players, of course, none of them raped her, and any activities performed were consensual. The case was thrown out of court - yet those players will have to live with the accusation for life.

When will girls wake up and make something of their own lives, and not rely on their puckered lips and cleavage to get them anywhere in life? It’s getting a little better, but I still feel comfortable with cat calling and whistling, because when some of them dress the way they do, they are asking me for my attention. Females have brains as well… it’s a shame they don’t exercise the right to use them half the time.

Don’t go around asking for my respect as long as you still expect me to pay for your drink at the bar. Realise your own mistakes, and don’t bring people’s name to the mud if you don’t get what you want.

Rape is bad ok… one of the worst crimes imaginable, and if these footballers are indeed guilty, they should be severely remonstrated. If this is the case, maybe girls will think twice before they throw themselves at successful young men.

True. Very true. Thank you for that. It's good to have male insight, though I already understood most of this.

Women are stupid, but after seeing this episode of Dateline about this psychopathic lawyer who men loved despite the fact that they knew her violent history, I know that men are just as stupid.
Still, these women who make up lies should be punished just as harshly as the men who actually are guilty of rape should be punished.
However, being in the public eye doesn't necessarily mean they won't commit such acts. People are stupid sometimes.

This, unfortunately happens on 99.9% of all college campuses in America, and most go unprosecuted. My wife, before I married her, while still in school was raped by a few guys from the basketball team. She told me a day or so later and I had my rifle cleande, loaded and sighted in to kill a few jocks. She did me one better and turnedthem in for drug possession. In a small college town, a drug bust was gold. They got more time behind bars than her testimony could have and without her being harassed for previous sexual encounters or them knowing who turned them in. I still have four bullets saved for the day they might be needed.

This entry is an abomination and your Agawrian 'brothers' should out you upon reading it.

I doubt I will ever speak to you again.

You may think you are clever, but you should be embarrassed.

Subject such as rape, paedophilia etc. are never to be talked about in jest.

If these really are your views... fuck.. I really don't know what to say....... hmmmmmm..

Very un-Agawrian! For shame!

Very un-Agawrian! For shame!

I will be the judge of that...

Who is this anyway - you obviously know me, and i would be happy to have a verbal conversation regarding the matter, because obviously the post has gone past you.

These really are my views, and i can justify them wholeheartedly...

shall i remain BAMboozled? or you going to reveal your identity...

This is a public forum... feel free to argue any points i put forward in this piece and i will respond accordingly!

Muggaz, Some parts of your blog I agree with. I have known on several occasions, women who have pointed the finger unjustly at particular people and then saw their lives damaged beyond repair. These two women (in separate incidents) later gave up their legal fight and it was later disclosed that neither incident took place. These poor guys, while being cleared of the accusations, have yet to really live down the brand as 'rapist' and will never live it down, to those people who guessed that the women dropped their cases only because of lack of sufficient evidence. A 'tag' like that, disproven or not, will continue to follow them for the rest of their lives.

And, on the other hand, rape does happen in scenarios that you have painted. But nobody 'needs' to rape anyone. There are other ways to get sexual satisfaction. (Ask Sir Peter. hehehe) And for those women who have experienced rape, I'll bet that on many occasions some of them were dressed sexy, were panting for that particular person. And, it still could happen that she decided to say no before he decided to continue on, anyway.

I wonder how many girls would make false rape accusations if the penalty for doing so would carry the same life-long punishment as for the innocently accused?

Excellent notion. Insiteful

In spite of what some Jesters may be prophesising, I dont beleive rape should be taken in Jest.

I just beleive a false accusation is just as bad as the crime itself.

Muggaz... this is obviously very shaky ground to walk on, since only the two parties involved know what really happens behind closed doors... (unless there's a group thing going on, but we won't go there)... we can't know if and when the girl said no... we can't know if she was inebriated or not... there are a hundred things we just don't know.

I agree with you about false accusations being criminal. I know a soldier who's career (and life really) was ruined by his step-daughter's false rape accusation. He now has to 'register' every so many months with some authority because he has this on his record... all while he is completely innocent, and the charges have been dropped

I guess what I'm saying is that I see both sides, and I hope that in time we will see a decrease in this type of occurence. I fear that it's only going to continue to increase unless some things really change.

btw, i'm still waiting for your reply to my response to your argument on "America and War"...

in the meantime in the between time,

WHAMMO!

Police statistics (in the US--sorry I don't know about Australia) show that the rate of falsely reported rapes is about 2% (http://organizations.rockbridge.net/projecthorizon/sacommonmyths.htm) , that's the same false reporting for other crimes. There is a misguided belief out there that women are crying foul all the time. On the contrary, women who do get raped aren't reporting it.

I can't tell you if this footballer is guilty or not--but I do know that pressing charges against a rapist is not an easy thing to do (emotionally). The doubt and public scrutiny that accompanies it doesn't make it any easier. Being famous, or an especially skilled athlete, should not be a "get out of jail free" card.

Footballers do not NEED to rape woman

Rape isn't about sex, it's about power...the footballers ability to "get some" is not a valid defense against a rape accusation.

As long as I see girls all glammed up and acting ridiculously flirtatious around footballers, I have no reason to believe the accusations.

There is a fine line between what you are saying and saying that girls who dress and act a certain way DESERVE to be raped.

Exactly.  There was a study (read about it in psychology class in college) that rape was almost always about assertion of power.  Most of the men who committed rape were either physically or socially powerful.  There was even a fairly substantial amount of police officers who committed rape.  I don't remember any of the stats (was too long ago) but it made an impression.  Rape is not about sex at all- it's about power.

I am saying that girls should think twice about how they act around successful young men... no one deserves to be raped. No one deserves to have what they perceived as a fun and consensual night blown back up in the public either.

As MJ said - there are always two sides of the story.

I know not many people agree with Muggaz, but I do. Rape is bad. It disgusts me. Offenders should be castrated. False accusers should have a few fingers chopped off.

But then again, with the amount of rape allegations coming out in our country at the moment, there must be some truth to at least one of the situations. I think that most are probably just out for a selfish quick dollar, but some are for real and it has taken all this media attention to urge them to speak out. It is a terrible crime and probably very embarrassing for the victims to boot.

I do see some good in all of this though.

It screams about a lack of respect. Lack of it from men towards women, women towards men and self-respect on the women’s part.

All this nation-wide attention will bring some offenders to light, whether they be sports stars or not. The amount of people crying foul will also hopefully bring about a change in culture where people will think twice about taking advantage of some more vulnerable than them.
